Amber glass existed before safety labels. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, its warm honey-toned hue served a functional purpose — amber filtered out light that would degrade photosensitive medicines, bitters, and tinctures. The bottles in this collection were recovered from New York City beaches, where generations of waterfront dumping preserved glass that would otherwise have been lost. Each piece is pre-1950s, hand-selected for condition, and arrives with the natural patina of its age intact. Well-suited to apothecary displays, farmhouse shelving, and anywhere a warm, storied object earns its place.
