William Sanderson & Son Ltd. was founded in 1863 in Leith, the historic port district of Edinburgh, and went on to become one of the most widely exported Scotch whisky houses of the 20th century. This bottle carried that legacy across the Atlantic, embossed with the maker's name for the American market in the decades following the repeal of Prohibition in 1933.
Embossing: WILLIAM SANDERSON & SON LTD. LEITH SCOTLAND on the front, with a round emblem design on the back. A Federal Law notice near the shoulder marks it as a post-Prohibition import, a detail collectors use to date American-market Scotch bottles from this period.
Minor surface scratches and a faint natural haze softened one side of the glass during its decades resting along New York City's historic shoreline. There are no chips or cracks, and the embossing remains crisp and fully legible.
