White Horse Cellar blended Scotch whisky takes its name from the White Horse Inn on Edinburgh’s Canongate — a landmark dating to the sixteenth century that served as a staging post for travelers heading to London. The brand was established in 1890 by James Logan Mackie and became one of Scotland’s most widely exported blended whiskies through the twentieth century, with particular strength in the American and Asian markets. American-market White Horse bottles of the mid-century period carried the Glasgow distillery attribution and the embossed white horse emblem that made the brand immediately identifiable on any shelf.
