The Evelyn Packing Co. operated out of New York City and packed imported herring under the Kingfish Brand label in the first half of the 20th century. The Maryland Glass Company maker's mark on the base places this jar's manufacture between the 1920s and 1940s — a narrow and traceable production window that makes it a reliable collector dating reference.
Embossing: KINGFISH BRAND FANCY IMPORTED HERRING on the body; Evelyn Packing Co. New York on the base alongside the Maryland Glass Company mark.
The clear glass is sharp throughout with no chips or cracks. Readable embossing front and back.
Dimensions: 5.6" H × 3" W | Weight: 9.4 oz | Clear glass | Excellent vintage condition.
A strong piece for vintage kitchen collections, farmhouse open shelving, or any display celebrating early NYC food commerce. The wide mouth and sturdy form also make it functional as a small vase or desktop storage vessel.
Recovered from New York City's historic shorelines and landfill sites by Brooklyn Sea Glass. Ships carefully packed.
