A genuine Chivas Brothers Ltd scotch bottle from Aberdeen, Scotland — recovered from historic NYC shorelines and naturally transformed by decades in the ocean. The glass carries an authentic sea-worn patina identical to genuine sea glass: frosted, luminous, and completely unreplicable.
The ocean-worn surface develops the same natural frosting as genuine sea glass — soft, silvery, and especially striking in natural light where the olive green glass takes on a luminous depth. This patina cannot be manufactured or artificially applied. It is the real thing, on an intact antique bottle.
The bottle carries two embossed inscriptions: "FEDERAL LAW FORBIDS SALE OR RE-USE OF THIS BOTTLE" — required on all US liquor bottles between 1935–1964 under the Federal Alcohol Administration Act — and "CHIVAS BROTHERS LTD ABERDEEN SCOTLAND." The base is marked "50 UGB." This embossing dates the bottle precisely to the post-Prohibition mid-century American market. Chivas Brothers, founded in Aberdeen in 1801, remains in production today as Chivas Regal.
Style it as:
▪ Neo Deco bar styling — olive glass anchors brass accents and geometric glassware
▪ Dark Academia shelf — alongside leather books, vintage maps, and candlelight
▪ Whiskey or spirits bottle collector display
▪ Bud vase with tall dried grasses or botanicals
▪ Conversation piece — the federal law embossing tells a story few bottles can
Hand-recovered from historic NYC shorelines where mid-century glass has rested for decades. By choosing Brooklyn Sea Glass, you're giving a genuine vintage artifact a second intentional life.
