Genuine NYC sea glass in the medium size, with pieces measuring 1 to 2 inches across. Decades of ocean wear gave each one its frosted surface and rounded edges before it was hand-collected from NYC beaches. The glass dates from the late 1800s through the early 1950s. It has never been machine tumbled.
Colors run green, amber, clear, brown and light blue, with rare cobalt, pink, red and yellow turning up now and then. Many pieces carry traces of embossed lettering from the vintage bottles they started as.
Medium pieces are large enough to show their frosting in a jewelry setting or a mosaic, and small enough to fill a vase, bowl or shadow box by the handful. They also suit wire wrapping, resin art, terrariums, wedding centerpieces and suncatchers.
