James Buchanan & Co. was established in London in 1884 by Canadian-born entrepreneur James Buchanan, who quickly built his Glasgow-sourced blend into one of the most recognized Scotch brands in the world. Black & White — named for the iconic terrier label — became the best-selling Scotch in Britain by the early 20th century and a major American import through Prohibition and beyond. The Deluxe expression was a premium tier produced specifically for the postwar American market.

The Federal Law text on the back is the key dating detail: this requirement applied to glass imported into the U.S. from Repeal through approximately 1964, placing this bottle in that specific and traceable window. The green glass carries minor seaworn character — honest evidence of time spent along the NYC shoreline before Brooklyn Sea Glass recovered it.

Dimensions: 9" H × 4" W × 2.6" D | Weight: 22.4 oz | Green glass | Large scratches, minor seaworn patina.

The bottle works naturally in a range of styling contexts: bar cart anchor, coastal shelf display, dark academia bookcase, or eclectic maximalist arrangement. Use it as a bud vase for dried pampas, eucalyptus, or grasses — the green glass and seaworn surface give it a texture that synthetic vases can't replicate.

Recovered from New York City's historic shorelines by Brooklyn Sea Glass. All bottles listed individually and ship carefully packed.
